The Messianic Prophecy According To Isaiah

As we have seen some of the messianic prophecies in the book of Isaiah such as in Isaiah 7 and 11, now we shall see closer that the Saviour will be revealed. In Isaiah 52:31-53:12 we can see a magnificent structured prophecy in fantastic detail that practically put into the shadow everything that God had ever seen and said before. Seen there were no verses when Isaiah wrote his book, therefore Isaiah 52:13-15 can be considered as part of Isaiah 53 because in these three verses we can see the mystery of the servant of God. “Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider” (Isaiah 52:13-15).

In this book of Isaiah it was depicted the humility of the Lord Jesus Christ or His career on this earth. He was extremely humble and in fact He was despised because of His background concerning His city namely Nazareth. When the people said, can anything come out from Nazareth? Humanly speaking absolutely there is nothing good comes from that wicked city but they did not realise that Jesus was not born in that city, although He was brought up there. The humility of Jesus Christ can be seen clearly in this portion of Scripture hundreds years before Jesus came at His first coming.

Isaiah 53:1-12 can be outlined as follows; firstly, the rejection of God’s servant (Isaiah 53:1-3) where we can see its fulfilment written much more in the four gospels.

Secondly, the atonement of God’s servant (Isaiah 53:4-6) in which we are told about His special unique servant. In verse 6 we read “All we like sheep have gone astray: we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Based on this verse we can see the important of the need of the Saviour to cleanse us from all our sins. This can be done only through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 53:7-9 the prophecy continues to tell us that the amazing details of some of the things that the Lord Jesus Christ would do in which some of them did not even mention in the four gospels because the Holy Spirit assumed that we have mastered the book of Isaiah.

Thirdly, the exhortation of the Lord’s servant (Isaiah 53:10-12). This is the climax of all in this chapter. It tells us the offered price that the Lord Jesus Christ paid and the knowledge by which He accomplished our redemption and the glorification that He will share with His people who love Him and serve Him. It is clear that this passage is one of the most important passages in the book of Isaiah concerning the first coming of Messiah. There is no doubt but to believe that what Isaiah was saying here was truly fulfilled when Jesus Christ came to this earth.
