The Messianic Prophecy According To Malachi

1. Malachi 3:1-2

Malachi 3:1-2 “Behold I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts. But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap.” In this passage we can see the prophecy of Malachi concerning the coming Messiah in which John the Baptist had also proclaimed (Matthew 3:1). John the Baptist knew that the Messiah would come and he acknowledged his responsibility as the servant of God namely to proclaim the truth of Messiah and to direct the people of Israel to the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the Messiah.

In Malachi 4:2 we are told that when Jesus comes, the whole world will be full with light, because He is the light of the world. “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” This was the last word of the Messianic prophecy in the Old Testament that will be fulfilled. Therefore as John said in the New Testament in the book of Revelation we may say, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20).
